The Greek Mainland is virtually surrounded by sea and beautiful beaches, it has a wonderful combination of sea and mountains, with stunning nature to be found all over the country. Peloponnese, in the south of Greece, is a very beautiful and popular destination for many holiday makers. It is steeped in history and folklore and is home to many of Greece's best archaeological sites, such as Olympia, Mycenae, Corinth and Epidaurus. Athens, the capital and largest city in Greece dominates the Attica region and is one of the World's oldest cities, its recorded history spans around 3,400 years. Many ancient monuments and works of art are to be found in Athens, the most famous of which is the Parthenon which sits high up on the Acropolis. It is widely considered to be a key landmark of early Western civilisation.

| The Greek islands all have their own character and features. Some (especially those only accessible by ferry) are very traditional and peaceful while others are bustling and famous for their hectic nightlife. Corfu is very popular, it is the secondest biggest of the Ionian Islands. You can enjoy sampling the traditional cuisine served in the numerous taverans and spend the day relaxing on the beach. Corfu Town is well worth a visit, it boasts exquisite Venetian houses, quaint narrow streets and the British Palace of SS Michael and George. The Mediterranean island of Crete is famous for its sugar cube houses and beautiful sandy beaches where you can take it easy sunbathing or participate in the wide selection of watersports available including jet skiing, canoeing and windsurfing. For the kids there is an exciting water park called Water City which has a variety of slides and a large swimming pool where you can cool off. Another pleasure is to taste the homemade dishes in the tavernas whilst admiring the jagged mountainous landscapes in the distance. Rhodes is good for shopping and some towns are famous for their franetic nightlife. It is also full of character and charm thanks to its medieval stone buildings and mosques. |
